All students enrolled in the Practical Nursing, LPN-RN, and ASN programs are required to attend and complete clinical rotations before being granted access to sit for their respective NCLEX examinations. ASN and LPN-RN students must complete a total of 720 hours of clinical rotations while Practical Nursing students must complete a total of 697 hours. To complete these hours, students must be present on the campus ground located in Florida at Riggs College for clinical rotation. Students are eligible to attend clinical rotations after completing and passing NU2502 Medical Surgical I, NU2502C Medical Surgical I Clinical Practicum, NU2503 Medical Surgical II, and NU2503C Medical Surgical II Clinical Practicum.
All nursing students who plan to attend a clinical rotation must submit a copy of their active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate or their Basic Life Support (BLS) certification provided through all valid associations/organizations. In addition, students must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or complete a declination form. All students must pass a Level 2 Background Check with electronic fingerprints as well as a Five-Panel Drug test before attending a clinical rotation. Lastly, students must be in good financial standing with the school as well as pay their clinical fee (listed under "Tuition & Fees").
The following is a list of medical/vaccination requirements and their expiration dates determined by the clinical centers utilized by Riggs College:
**If you submit a declination form for any vaccination, Riggs College will make an effort to accommodate, however, will not guarantee placement at a clinical site.
Students must invest in royal blue scrubs with white, closed-toed sneakers or shoes. All students attending clinical rotations must submit a professional photograph of themselves to be worn as an identification badge while present at clinical sites.
Riggs College expects all students to arrive on time, dress appropriately, and always behave professionally and across all locations (campus, clinical site, etc.). When you take part in a clinical rotation, you represent the college and can be excused if you are to act inappropriately. If at any point you are excused from a clinical rotation due to unprofessional behavior, the academic committee will need to reevaluate your future with the college, and you will not be refunded your clinical fee. All clinical rotations are graded on a pass/fail basis. You will not only be assessed for your ability to execute a skill but also on your ability to cooperate with your fellow students and follow instructions provided to you by your clinical instructor.
