Applicants who obtained low scores for both tests may retake the exam after six months.

A criminal record may prevent a student from obtaining a license or certification in some medical programs. Students who do not have documentation of a Hepatitis B vaccination are required to sign a Waiver that states that he/she has made a voluntary decision not to be immunized against the Hepatitis B Virus. In making this decision, the student accepts full responsibility for that decision and understands that OSHA federal regulations require only healthcare facilities to make the Hepatitis B vaccination available to their own employees. Therefore, a student understands he/she is not a school employee, and charges may not be filed against the school if he/she is exposed to the Hepatitis B virus while attending classes at the institution or clinical sites.

Our policy for transfer of credits/hours is as follows:
Riggs College gives credit for studies at other institutions that are approved within the United States, or proven equivalent United States accredited institutions. Riggs College does not accept credits from an unaccredited institution. To be considered, courses must be comparable to Riggs College courses included in the program of study and the grade received in the course must be at least 75% or higher or if the grade percentage is not noted on the academic transcript from the originated institution, a minimum grade of "C+" must have been earned. Generally, a maximum of 15 prerequisite course credits may be transferred into Riggs College, however, this is at the discretion of the Chief Operating Officer or the Dean of Academic. Transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis. Riggs College does not accept transfer credits from Straighterline or Sophia Pathways. In addition to this, Riggs College does not accept Advanced Placement credit. Credits will only be awarded for prerequisite courses.
For prerequisite courses that are greater than 10 years old, a test out option may be available with approval from the Dean of Academics. The cost for a test out is $300.00 per course and the applicant must receive a 75% or higher on the provided examination in order to earn the transfer credit. The examination for the test out is determined by Riggs College and will only cover the subject areas essential to the course in question. The test out examination will be given via Zoom and on a testing platform while being proctored by Riggs College. Should the applicant fail the test out examination, the test out fee is nonrefundable.
The transfer of academic credits/hours is evaluated on a course-by-course basis and is ultimately decided by the institution’s Dean of Academics. The number of credits/hours that may be transferred for each course is determined by establishing credit equivalencies by the institution’s Dean of Academics once a student has been accepted. General education and nursing pre-requisite courses in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) have a 10-year shelf-life. If a STEM course is older than 10 years, they may not transfer in, this will be evaluated on an individual basis. The acceptance of these classes will be determined at the time of the transcript evaluation.
The institution gives credit for General Education courses that are 10 years or less; however, acceptance of any previous coursework and/or credits is at the discretion of the dean and is therefore not guaranteed. Transcripts are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Transfer of credits earned at Riggs College are accepted at the discretion of the accepting institution. It is the student’s responsibility to confirm whether credits will be accepted by another institution of the student’s choice.
Students transferring credits/hours are required to request official transcripts from the educational institutions attended to be sent directly to the institution’s Director of Education. Students have until the end of the first semester to comply with this requirement.
Applicants with credentials from foreign countries must send credentials to the institution’s Director of Education for evaluation along with an official translation (in case the original is not in English). An official evaluation by an approved educational evaluator service attesting that the diploma/degree/credits earned at a foreign institution are equivalent to a diploma/degree/credit earned at an accredited institution in the United States. Foreign high school diplomas must be translated and evaluated by a member of the American Translators Association (ATA). For a list of approved translators visit https://www.atanet.org. Foreign diploma transcripts and college degree courses must be translated and evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) https://www.naces.org.
