PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
An Associate in Science (AS) Degree in Criminal Justice will prepare students to work in entry level positions
within the criminal justice field and to transition smoothly into a Bachelor in Science (BS) program in Criminal
Justice

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The program is designed to offer students foundational academic awareness of the field of criminal
justice, with basic knowledge in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, courts, corrections, and
law enforcement. Through online asynchronous learning, students will explore the roles of the criminal
justice professional, the theories behind crime and punishment, and the ethics of criminal justice
practice. Students will learn the research methods necessary to study and explore the field while
professionally documenting their findings. Students who complete this program will be able to continue
on to the Bachelor in Science (BS) degree program in Criminal Justice.
